Hurt Locker producer suspended from Oscar Awards

Nicolas Chartier

Nicolas Chartier producer of the movie ‘The Hurt Locker’, which is nominated for Oscar and also BAFTA award winner is barred from Oscar awards. He is not allowed into Oscar award presentation ceremony because of the e-mail he sent to academy members to vote for his movie.

But the good news for Nicolas Chartier is, he can receive Oscar statue if the ‘The Hurt Locker’ movie win a best picture award, but he will receive that award one day later.

The producers executive committee Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences thought that Nicolas Chartier violated the Oscar rules by sending e-mails to promote his movie and tried to expressed negitive opinion on other movies. For this reason they took an action on him that he is not allowing for Oscar awards.

He sent an e-mail on February19 to some of the academy members to support his movie. In that mail he mentioned that ‘The Hurt Locker’ is not an $500 million film, which an reference to best picture contender ‘Avatar’.

In that mail he asked Oscar voters to rank The Hurt Locker at No 1 and Avatar at No 10 among this year 10 best picture nomination
