Sony Pictures looking for James Bond films

Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael Lynton said that Sony corporation want a role in the upcoming movies of James Bond once the sale or restructuring of Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. is completed.

Previously Sony, distributed and co-produced the Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace and they are very much interested in the upcoming new movies of 007 for becoming a producing partner to MGM. But up to now Sony hasn’t held any negotiations with potential buyers, according to the Lynton.

Lynton said that “We would like to be as involved with ‘James Bond’ as we’re permitted to be.” MGM holds the rights for all Bond films. Initially MGM went with lower bids but the final bids made $1.5 billions. Apart from the Bond movies MGM developing a film version of The Hobbit and it has a library of more than 4,000 titles.
