Javier Bardem could possibly be the lead in The Dark Tower. The film has been adapted from the book The Dark Tower.

There are rumors whirling around about the casting of The Dark Tower. Reportedly, Javier Bardem was offered the lead role by the director, Ron Howard and the Universal Pictures. Javier Bardem plays the character of gunslinger Roland Deschain.

Reportedly, Viggo Mortensen and Christian Bale were considered for the lead prior to Javier Bardem. The Dark Tower has been adapted from the novel by Stephen King, which will be made into three movies and a television series.

Ron Howard, the director of ‘Da Vinci Code’ will direct the first feature film. The Dark Tower comprises seven books, fantasy elements and horror with the genre of West.

The ambition of Ron Howard is’ to start of with a first feature film and a television chapter will follow the film which will be provided as a bridge to the second version. After the end of second version, the television series will be started again showing Deschain as a young gunslinger. The final version will show a matured Deschain as his journey comes to an end.

Universal Pictures and NBC Universal Television Entertainment are the producers associated with Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment, King and Goldsman.
