Sony has announced the official release date for the remake of Sci-Fi movie Total Recall. Collin Farrell will play the lead role in Total Recall remake.

’Total Recall’, the remake of Arnold Schwarzenegger starred 1990 hit has finally got the official release date. Len Wiseman, the director of Underworld will direct the movie. Collin Farrell will play the character played by Arnold in the original movie.

Total Recall movie has been adapted from Sci-Fi short story ‘We Cab Remember It For You Wholesale’, written by Philip K. Dick, a Sci-Fi author. Kurt Wimmer of ‘Equilibrium’ will provide the script for the remake. It has been 21 years, the original movie was made. It was well known for its visual effects.

Reportedly, the production team is planning to take it in a new direction. Collin Farrell has been finalized for the character to walk on Mars. As per the sources, the movie will start its filming in May. There were rumors flying in the past that, Collin was in and out of the project due to his schedule conflicts. But, the rumors were proved absurd and Collin was finalized for the lead role in the movie.

As per the sources, Collin will be going to Taipei instead of Mars in the movie. The difference between the original and remake of Total Recall is there will be a different world in the remake. The movie would be futuristic with technological advancements.

The remake of ‘Total Recall’ is set to release in next summer on August 3, 2012.
