Russell Brand, the British comedian plays the lead role in the movie ‘Arthur’ and plays as an immature and drunken womanizer.
Russell Brand has been selected to play the lead role in the 1981 remake of a comedy flick ‘Arthur’ with Dudley Moore as Arthur. Brand did a great job and delivered as expected. The story and characters of the remake were not very much changed compared to the original.
Russell Brand plays the character of Arthur, who is a playboy. He plays as drunken womanizer and spends his time with women and spends lot of money. His mother (Geraldine James) threatens him to marry a business woman (Jennifer Garner) or he will be abandoned from the property. He unwillingly agrees to the condition, but he falls in love with a tour guide (Greta Gerwig). Eventually, his nanny played by Helen Mirren guides Arthur to make the right choice.
The movie is different to the original and put away the comparison. The female lead characters of the movie sounds stereotype, but are very useful for the situation. Greta Gerwig did a good job as tour guide and looks cute. Jennifer Garner performed her character very well. The important part and the character that keeps the plot in tact is Helen Mirren resembles the mother.
Jason Winer, the director of ‘Arthur’ did a different job, which won’t allow comparing the movie with the original. But, at times it fails to avoid the comparison. Finally, the movie has got entertainment with chuckles and is worth watching.
