Rio movie remains on top at Easter weekend box office overtaking Madea and Water for Elephants and topped the box office for second week consecutively.
’Rio’, the animated movie by 20th Century Fox topped the Easter weekend box office for consecutive second week, surpassing ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ and ‘Water for Elephants’ starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon in the lead.
’Rio’ grossed $26.8 million in its second week totaling $268 million worldwide and $81.3 million domestically in two weeks. The movie gave a tough competition for ‘Madea and Water for Elephants’. Anne Hathaway and Jesse Eisenberg gave their voices for ‘Rio’.
The comedy movie ’Madea’s Big Happy Family’ of Tyler Perry managed second place grossing $26 million released in 2,288 theaters, while ‘Water for Elephants’ ended with third place at Easter weekend box office with $17.5 million.
’Hop’ of Russell Brand slipped to fourth place grossing $12.5 million. ‘Scream 4’ has dropped to fifth place with $7.2 million.
