Royal Wedding starts off with gifts coming through after the Royal couple getting their first wedding gift from none other than the great Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother.
Couple has been named by the Queen Elizabeth II; William is now His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge and Kate will be Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, the names have been announced early on Friday. Middleton will not become princess officially as she wasn’t born a princess, however people will possibly call her as princess.
Sources informed that there were signs that William would receive a title and you can say it is a personal gift directly from the Queen of Briton which is a mark of respect for her grandson, there is history behind the name given to William has a history. In 1706, George Augustus who then became King George II was made the duke of Cambridge. The dukedom ceased when he ascended to the throne in 1727, but was recreated in 1801.
Although an honored title, it does not necessarily have terribly pleasing history. In 1847 Prince Adolphus Frederick seventh son of King George III who was second duke of Cambridge, who disobeyed the Royal Marriage Act and married Sarah Louisa Fairbrother who was his mistress, an actress and commoner, as the marriage was not legal as per the Act, all his kids were illegitimate and the dukedom became extinct on his death, in 1904.
