Rachel Weisz is reportedly in talks to play as the evil witch in Disney’s Oz: The Great and Powerful along with James Franco and Mila Kunis.
Rachel Weisz, the beautiful Hollywood actress is in negotiations to star in the villainess role in the upcoming Disney’s prequel, Oz: The great and Powerful. It has been adapted from the 1939 classic, ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Weisz would play the character of Evanora, who is powerful and wicked witch, looking to rule the Land of Oz.
As per the reports, the Oscar winning actress will play the older witch sister of Theodora, played by Mila Kunis, a good witch. As per the reports, there was debate in between the director of the prequel, Sam Raimi and Disney studios, in regard to the female role. Raimi wants to cast Hilary Swank for the role of evil witch and the studio wants Michelle Williams in the role.
Rachel, who won her Oscar for best supporting role in ‘The Constant Gardener’, would join the star cast along with James Franco and Mila Kunis. James Franco plays the role of oil salesman, who finally becomes the legendary Wizard, as he is taken to the Land of Oz by a tornado. As another actress to be cast in the role of third sister Glinda, Olivia Wilde, Amy Adams, Keira Knightley, Rebecca Hall and Kate Beckinsale are vying for the role to play as the good witch of North.
The movie is produced by Joe Roth of ‘Alice in the Wonderland’, which grossed over $1 billion through out the world. The movie ‘Oz: The Great and Powerful’ is expected to release in the year 2013.
