Fast and the Furious Fast Five left competition ahead

The combination of breathtaking action, muscles and of course babes has left the competition in dust overseas with the returns of $130.4 million for the weekend in more than 6000 international theaters and in total of $180.2 million worldwide.

This weekend’s North American debut movie, ‘Thor’ with the cast of Boasting Academy Award Winner Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, the Australian Chris Hemsworth was already in the second place by grossing $77.7 million in 43 territories. This movie has earned $116.2 million worldwide.

From the makers of ‘Ice Age’, the angry birds of ‘Rio’ continued to be in the top five by showing $41.1 million returns in their fourth weekend of its release. This movie has become a worldwide crusher with nearly $335 million in revenues globally.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s ‘Water for Elephants’ has bagged the fourth place by the romantic touch between the on-screen couple, getting together through their compassion for a special elephant. The movie had $13.5 million returns in nearly 4500 locations and earned 37.7 million worldwide.

Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’s Big Happy Family’ has settled in the fifth position with the story line coming up with lot of tough love, laughter and the revelation of long-buried family secret.

Top 10 movies at International theatres last weekend:

1. Fast Five – $130,390,536 in 6,271 locations, 15 territories, $180,224,930 in two weeks.
2. Thor – $77,690,213 in 5,444 locations, 43 territories, $116,236,048 in two weeks.
3. Rio – $41,152,579 in 8,706 locations, 49 territories, $334,773,186 in four weeks.
4. Water For Elephants – $13,502,609 in 4,480 locations, 19 territories, $37,780,318 in three weeks.
5. Madea’s Big Happy Family – $9,860,929 in 2,288 locations, one territory, $42,010,678 in two weeks.
6. Hop – $7,516,613 in 5,865 locations, 39 territories, $162,015,649 in five weeks.
7. Scream 4 – $6,532,879 in 4,431 locations, 31 territories, $80,153,216 in three weeks.
8. Source Code- $6,431,456 in 2,748 locations, 22 territories, $80,109,766 in five weeks.
9. Insidious- $5,283,214 in 1,914 locations, four territories, $55,771,744 in five weeks.
10. Red Riding Hood – $5,090,772 in 2,316 locations, 35 territories, $80,329,843 in eight weeks.
