The revamped Spiderman has finally hit the Broadway. After a weeks of revisions for addressing safety concerns, a new look, injury-free version of ‘Spiderman: Turn off the Dark’ has premiered its first preview performance on Thursday night in the New York City.
The overall concept, script and music were all revamped in an effort to make the Broadway musical both entertaining and safe which are the two things that the show really lacked. Philip William McKinley is the new Broadway director after replacing Julie Taymor for making necessary changes to the show. The main change that he has brought to the show was adding up of the flying sequences.
However, some may be surprised for the flying stunts, especially after several actors got injured while trying to perform. During a show, Christopher Tierney took a 20-foot plunge and has landed with several broken bones. After the opening was continually delayed, the injuries and the cast departures citing safety concerns eventually led to the musical overhaul.
Although the new Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark was budgeted $5 million, they are empty seats observed in the Thursday night’s preview. However, there is enough time for positive buzz to bring out the crowd stick to the show. The opening of the ‘Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark’ is on June 4th 2011.
