The Colombian pop star, Shakira has presented the Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez with an autographed red electric guitar, where the colour of guitar represents the leader’s socialist political movement.
Shakira, the Grammy award winner and songwriter has sent Chavez the guitar, after visiting the South American country in March. On Sunday, Hugo Chavez has thanked the pop star for the gift. During a phone call to a state television station, Chavez said that he was practicing last night, watching for the plugs. He added that it is electric and a very modern guitar and he was not used to it. He stated that he was singing some songs including the old ones, especially a Mexican one.
Hugo Chavez is best known for his informal style. He often buckles out Latin American folk songs during the political speeches and rallies. An official suggested him to sing Shakira’s ‘Waka Waka’ song which was written for the last year’s World Cup. He questioned that how he is going to practice that song with that swollen foot.
The President, Hugo Chavez has sung a bolero, which is a slow Latin America song. Currently, Chavez is recovering from a knee injury and has withdrawn all the visits to several countries during this week. He concluded that the injury was getting better.
