‘Thor’ Tops US Weekend Box Office for Second Week

Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman starrer ‘Thor’ movie has topped the US Weekend Box Office for the second consecutive week.

’Thor’ the comic book adapted movie topped the US weekend box office for the second straight week, giving a tough time to the new releases and already released like ‘Fast Five’. Chris Hemsworth, who played as the God of Thunder and Natalie Portman in the female lead role grossed $34.5 million in its second weekend.

There were two new entries at the box office, ‘Bridesmaids’ and ‘Priest’. ‘Bridesmaids’, a comedy movie with female ensemble impressed and surpassed the estimations. It was expected to gross $20 million or less, but it has earned $22.4 million in its three-day-screening. It was competing with two movies, based on wedding, ‘Something Burrowed’ and ‘Jumping the Broom’.

’Fast Five’, which was in second place, last week, has slipped down to third place grossing $19.5 million. The gross of the movie has dropped to 40 percent from its last week. ‘Priest’ which stood in fourth place, disappointed, as it grossed just $1435 million, including 3D charges.

Johnny Depp’s ‘Rio’ is still hanging to the box office, being played in 3,000 theaters after it has completed five weeks. It stood in fifth place with an impressive $8 million, which dropped just 6 percent from last week.
