Cannes Film Festival has wrapped up on Sunday with a series distribution of awards. The ‘Tree of Life’, ‘The Artist’, Kristen Dunst has topped in acquiring awards.
An American film, ‘The Tree of Life’ was helmed by director Terrence Malick. The movie’s leading role, Brad Pitt has taken away home to the top prize on Sunday at the Cannes film festival. The story tells about a Midwestern family in 1950’s. Pitt plays the role of authoritative father rising three kids along with his wife, played by Jessica Chastain.
Including this, the other big winners at the Cannes Film Festival held annually on the French Riviera are Kristen Dunst voted as the best actress at the competition for her role as one of the two sisters battling depression ahead of the world’s end in ‘Melancholia’. The best actor award is for Jean Dujardin for his portrayal of silent movie star for George Valentin in the French film, ‘The Artist’.
The best director was named for Nicolas Winding Refn from Denmark for his ‘The Drive’ where the movie projects a life of Hollywood stunt driver the the key role played by Ryan Gosling. The best screenplay was awarded to an Israeli, Joseph Cedar who penned the script for the father-son focused drama ‘Hearat Shulayim’.
A film inspired by Ukrainian director, Maryna Vroda’s ‘Cross’ is an experience running cross-country as a girl which has gathered the Palm D’Or in the short-film category. Besides these, ‘Swimsuit 46’ or ‘Badpakie 46’ revolves around a 12-year old swimmer has won the jury prize in the short-film category. The jury prize for the full-length features went to ‘Polisse’, a movie about the members of a French police unit.
