Joaquin Phoenix has been set to star in one of the lead characters in the upcoming movie ‘Low Life’ a drama directed by James Gray. Phoenix will play the character of a charming pimp, who forces the female lead into prostitution.
Marion Cotillard will play the female lead in the movie, a migrant from Poland to US. As per the reports, Jeremy Renner, the ‘Avengers’ star is in negotiations to star, in another lead character. If he is finalized for the project, he will play the role of a magician brother of Phoenix.
The story of the movie revolves round a woman Poland, who is forced into prostitution for the medicine and food for her ill sister. Her sister gets ill, while migrating from Poland to US. She has no place to go, after landing in Ellis Island at New York and falls prey to a charming pimp, played by Joaquin Phoenix.
This time, she will be forced into prostitution by Joaquin in New York. Here comes the magician brother of Joaquin, played by Jeremy Renner, who falls in love with her and it is the best chance for her to escape the life of a nightmare she is in.
The movie ‘Low Life’ is directed by James Gray, who has worked for three times with Joaquin in ‘The Yards’, ‘We Own the Night’ and ‘Two Lovers’. However, the filming of the movie is due next year. The reason is that, all the actors in the lead roles of the movie are busy with their projects currently.
Jeremy Renner is busy filming ‘Avengers’ and next will work for ‘The Bourne Legacy’ directed by Tony Gilroy. Marion is filming ‘The Dark Knight Rises’, while Phoenix is filming an untitled religious drama, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.
