Diego Luna to Star in ‘Elysium’

Diego Luna has been confirmed to join and star in the upcoming movie ‘Elysium’ directed by Neil Blomkamp of ‘District 9’.

The ‘Milk’ star, Diego Luna, 31 has been confirmed to star in the upcoming follow-up of ‘District 9’ directed by Neil Blomkamp. Luna is expected to play the character of Julio, the best friend of the character played by Matt Damon.

Luna, the Mexican actor, has co-starred with Sean Penn in “Milk’ and will now join the extensive cast of ‘Elysium’. He is well known for his work in ‘Y Tu Mama Tambien’ in 2001. Besides, he also played some supporting characters in the American movies like ‘Open range’, ‘Mister Lonely’ and ‘Before Night Falls’. He will also be seen opposite Mark Wahlberg, in ‘Contraband’ as Gonzalo.

Neil who made a stunning debut with ‘District 9’ will direct the movie. His favorite stars of his first film have also been included in the upcoming movie. Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner and Jodie Foster will star in the movie.

As per the reports, the story of the movie comprises multiple socio-political ideas, which has been set in the backdrop of 150 years in future. Jodie Foster will play the role of head of the state of alien planet.

The shooting of the movie is scheduled this summer and is expected to hit the theaters in US on March 1, 2013.
