JK Rowling has revealed that she will release the much awaited e-books of her mind-bogglingly popular fantasy series through her own ecommerce store and the interactive online experience through ‘Pottermore’ website.
Significantly, J.K. Rowling will sell the e-books through a proprietary platform. Rowling has revealed this news at a press conference at Victoria & Albert museum in London. Although, Bloomsbury and Scholastic have the control of print publishing rights of the Harry Potter novels, because of a perceptive arrangement with her publishers, she retains the digital rights to the seven Harry Potter novels.
Previously, the reports have been speculating that the right to sell the e-books would be worth as much as £100m. Rowling stands to make much more by retaining the right and selling them through her own platform. However, she is not completely turning back on hands that fed her; her publishers will definitely get the benefit from the print sales.
The video that appears in the Pottermore is seen that JK Rowling states that for her this is such a great way to give something back to Harry Potter fans that made the books such incredible success. She told that she still receives a phenomenal number of letter, drawings and even stories from fans. She adds that it is the way for Harry Potter to live on in a medium that does not exist when she started writing the books.
Rowling also said that they can guarantee that people everywhere are getting the same experience that she could afford to take her time over to make it come alive. She continued that there was really no way to do it for the fans or her than just do it herself. She concluded that not every author could do this but it is the right for Harry Potter and it is so much fun to have direct content with her fans as well as it was an extension of the existing ‘jkrowling’ official website.
