The R-rated middle school comedy ‘Bad Teacher’ has made somewhat passed at the Hollywood release examination. ‘Bad Teacher’ makes a feeble and unnecessary stab at celebrating the values of friendship and character.
In ‘Bad Teacher’, Cameron Diaz plays the role of Elizabeth Halsey who is a superannuated gold digger and tossed out on her ear by her wealthy fiancé and forced to return to her hated post at John Adams Middle School in suburban Chicago. Truly, Elizabeth is a bad teacher. Typically she is too hung over to lead the discussions and grade tests runs on to DVDs of the classroom based movies, ‘Stand and Deliver’, ‘Lean on Me’ and ‘Dangerous Minds’.
Elizabeth works are frequently questioned by the parents, but when the parents voice their concerns at an open house, she dismisses them in a snit and then collects bribes. The main goal of Elizabeth is to land a rich husband and she is convinced that she needs implants on her body parts to speed her plan along. She devises a series of schemes to raise money for her surgery.
Despite of her ability to write pleasurably in shorts while soaping up a car, she has no redeeming talents whatsoever. Cameron fails to invest this woman with anything resembling a soft side, anything to make her less overtly horrible.
‘Bad Teacher’ joins in the category of bad-economy comedies. In the similar movies that include ‘Meatballs’ and ‘Caddyshack’, this movie features a single female protagonist who has to rise above the debasements of neediness by any means necessary, probably in a hilarious way.
