Will Smith is trying to convince Denzel Washington to cast him for the Hurricane Katrina drama movie ‘The American Can’.
The ‘Men in Black’ star, Will Smith, is reportedly trying hard to convince Denzel Washington, to take up the lead role in the upcoming movie ‘The American Can’. The drama movie is based on the real facts of Hurricane Katrina which created havoc in New Orleans in 2005.
Smith was involved in the project, for the first time in 2009, when he and his production house Overbrook Entertainment Company acquired the rights of the story of John Keller, who saved several lives.
The story of the movie is about John Keller, a former marine, who is tough and tall, helped 150 plus residents of his apartment, when they were cut off by floods with 11-foot high of stinking water. Most of the people of his apartment were elders and weak, who were not able to evacuate the place.
Keller managed t move them on to the roof of the building and co-ordinated the distribution of supplies, that were dropped from air and also guarded them and the place from the looters. The script of the movie is provided by John Lee Hancock of ‘The Blind Side’, who will also direct the movie.
Initially, Will Smith considered himself to play the lead role of Keller in the movie, which was not possible for him, due to his other commitments, which also include ‘One Thousand AE’ by Night M Shyamalan. So, now he is trying Denzel Washington to step up into the role of Keller.
