The third version, ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’, has ruled the US weekend box office, as the biggest opening weekend of the year 2011.
’Transformers 3’ with the title ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’ has ruled the US weekend box office and topped as the biggest weekend opener of the year 2011. The top weekend opener was recorded by ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’ with $90.2 millions and just crossed $1 billion this weekend worldwide.
’Transformers 3’ has topped the weekend box office, as it has grossed $97.4 million in its three-day-screening. It was released on 9,300 screens at 4, 013 locations. It also totaled the gross of $156.6 million in its five-day-screening and has registered, as the ninth highest grossing five-day opener.
’Cars 2’, the animated movie by Disney Pixar and the topper in the last week, trials the ‘Transformers 3’ in second place, as it has grossed $25.1 million, in its second week. ‘Bad Teacher’ with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake in the lad roles is in third place with $14.1 million.
Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts starrer, ‘Larry Crowne’ has debuted in fourth place with $13.1 million at US weekend box office, while Se4lena Gomez starrer ‘Monte Carlo’ is in fifth place with $7.6 million.
