Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II has topped the US weekend box office and scored the biggest weekend box office opening ever.
The final version of ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, with the title ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II’ has not only topped the US weekend box office, but also created a record for being the biggest ever weekend opening at box office.
The ‘Deathly Hallows: Part II’ has collected a whopping $168.6 million in its three day screening. It surpassed ‘The Dark Knight’ which has collected $158.4 million at US weekend box office. The final movie of ‘Harry Potter’ was screened on 11,000 screens at 4,375 locations.
It also did a great job overseas, which collected $307 million, which was screened in 59 countries, which totaled its worldwide debut to $476 million. It also surpassed the benchmark of $394, set by the predecessor of the franchise ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’.
’Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon’ is trialing in the second place with $21.2 million, while ‘Horrible Bosses’ is in third place with $17.6 million. ‘Zookeeper’ and ‘Cars 2’ are in fourth and fifth place, grossing $12.3 million and $8.3 million respectively.
