After several failure attempts of making a movie on Pablo Escobar, Brad Furman is the latest one, who is giving a try to direct the biopic.
The Hollywood director, Brad Furman is reportedly in negotiations to direct a biopic, based on the story of Columbian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. Before him, Joe Carnahan and Antoine Fuqua have tried in the recent years to make a movie and eventually failed.
As per the reports, the movie by Brad would not relate to the movies ‘Escobar’, which Oliver Stone is producing or ‘Killing Pablo’ of Joe Carnahan, which has been adapted from the best selling novel of Mark Bowden.
However, the script of Brad’s movie would have an original screenplay with rich content, written by Matt Aldrich. The writer said that, he is excited to write an epic story. The story of the movie would be focusing on Pablo’s family, his enterprise and his rise, who had the largest crime organization in the world, which ended with a war between Columbia and him.
Pablo Escobar was known as one of the most successful and attracting cocaine dealers of all time. He was reportedly the owner of his fortune worth $25billion at one stage, where he even offered a deal, to clear the entire debt of Columbia. He also contributed to the housing projects and sponsorships to kids in sports. However, he was a gangster, which made Columbia, as the murder capital in the world during 1990s.
Brad Furman said that, it’s a dark story with human interest. He added that, the important thing of the story is not to look at excitement around Escobar, but the focus over the man, who was plotting in several ways.
