‘Cowboys & Aliens’, ‘Smurfs’ Tops the US Weekend Box Office

The ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ and ‘Smurfs’ has tied the top spot at US weekend box office, as both have debuted on the same day.

The recently released movies, ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ and ‘The Smurfs’ have did a great job at US weekend box office, after they have tied the top spot in the race. However, need to wait and see who would win the race eventually.

Both the movie have been the new entries at US weekend box office and shared the top place by grossing $36.2 million each in their three-day-screening. ‘Cowboys & Aliens’ grossed around $4 million, after it was predicted to open with $40 million at US box office.

The animated family movie ‘The Smurfs’ directed by Jon Favreau gave a tough fight to the movie, which did a great job grossing more than the expected $25 million. ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ dropped by two places to third grossing $24.9 million.

The final version of ‘Harry Potter’ franchise, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’ also slipped two places to fourth with $21.9 million and its total gross touched the mark of $1 billion globally. It earned $318.5 million and $690 million domestically and internationally respectively.

Another debut movie ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ debuted in fifth place, by opening the weekend with $19.3 million.
