Josh Brolin has been allegedly signed to star in the lead role of the forthcoming remake thriller ‘Oldboy’ directed by Spike Lee.
The production of the upcoming remake thriller adaptation ‘Oldboy’ has been scheduled to start its filming in March 2012, after Mark Protosevich of ‘Thor’ and Josh Brolin of ‘True Grit’ have been locked to write and star in the lead role respectively. The movie is in development stage under Mandate Pictures. Mark will also serve as the co-producer of the project.
The movie ‘Oldboy’ has been adapted from a Korean revenge thriller novel, written by Park Chan-Wook in the year 2003 and the story of the movie follows a middle-aged man, who has been released on parole, after spending 15 years in jail, without the explanation of the reason, he was jailed. After coming out of jail, he seeks revenge on the people, who conspired against him. Josh would play the role of middle-aged man in the movie. Christian Bale has been speculated to play the role of villain in the movie.
Earlier, the project of ‘Oldboy’ was being planned by DreamWorks, to develop the remake, as they were also in talks with Steven Spielberg and Will Smith for the project, to direct and star respectively. However, the deal was never been locked, until it has been confirmed by Mandate Pictures, about making the remake with Lee as the helmer of the project. Josh has recently wrapped up the filming of the forthcoming flick ‘Men in Black 3’, opposite Will Smith. He is also preparing to start the production of ‘Gangster Squad’, prior to the beginning of ‘Labor Day’ in June 2012.
