The first clip from the upcoming movie ‘The Thing’ has been unleashed by Universal Pictures. The newly released video has kept the focus on the scene where in Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s Derek Jameson witnesses how exactly the alien creature is trapped in an ice block breaks free from its confinement. However, the prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 film centres on a Paleontologist named Kate Lloyd.
Kate Llyod travels to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. She will be joining a Norwegian scientific team who stumbles across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice. She then discovers that an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago, but it is about to wake up. All of a sudden, a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison. She needs to join Sam Carter, the crew’s pilot in order to keep it from killing them off on at a time. Apart from this, in that vast intense island, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish.
Recently, the lead actress Mary Elizabeth has opened up about the pressure of working on this prequel of the classic movie. She said that there was definitely a lot of pressure because everyone involved is a fan of the John Carpenter version and none of them wanted to mess it up and no one wants to sully the legend of the John Carpenter film.
Mary Elizabeth takes up the role of a female protagonist named Kate. She joins the cast alongside Joel Edgerton who plays as helicopter pilot Sam. The movie is being directed by Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. The movie is set for the release on 14 October in the United States theatres.
