’Contagion’, the recently released thriller flick, directed by Steven Soderbergh, has topped the United States Weekend Box office.Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Winslet starrer thriller movie ‘Contagion’, has occupied the top place at North American weekend box office, by grossing $23.1 million, in its three-day screening. The movie has got B- Cinema score, which managed to draw 80% of youngsters aging 25 years among the viewers. Jeff Goldstein, the executive vice president of domestic distribution of Warner Bros Pictures said that, a wonderful director, a great storyline and superb marketing campaign and release date are the factors of the great result.
’Contagion’ was followed by drama movie ‘The Help’, which has ruled the chart for three consecutive weeks, in second place. Tate Taylor directed with Emma Stone in the lead role, has grossed $8.7 million and has totaled its gross to $137.1 million. A new entry ‘Warrior’ debuted, in the third place of the North American box office. The mixed martial arts drama has earned $5.6 million, which is less than the expected. However, the fourth and fifth places have been grabbed by ‘The Debt’ and ‘Colombiana’ grossing $4.9 million and $4 million respectively.
