‘Modern Family’ has won the comedy prize and the ‘Mad Men’ has won the top drama at the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday on a night full of surprises and new faces. Besides, winning the best comedy prize, ‘Modern Family’ has also brought first-time wins for Julie Bowen and her screen husband Ty Burrell in the supporting action slots and the ABC fake-documentary has won Emmy’s for directing and writing.
The star of ‘The Good Wife’ Julianna Margulies has defeated Elisabeth Moss of ‘Mad Men’ to get the best dramatic actress. However Kyle Chandler has overcome the front-runner Jon Hamm as the best drama actor of ‘Friday Night Lights’. ‘Mad Men’ has won the best drama series of Emmy for the fourth consecutive year. Matthew Weiner, the creator has said that he did not think that was going to happen.
The Titanic beauty, Kate Winslet has grabbed her first Emmy for her lead role in the HBO miniseries ‘Mildred Pierce’. Besides, the British show ‘Downton Abbey; has won the award for the best miniseries. An emotional first-time Emmy winner Margo Martindale has honoured for her supporting actress drama role in ‘Justified’. The lead comedy actress was won by Melissa McCarthy for her first shot for her role in ‘Mike & Molly’ on the CBS while Jim Parsons has made it two in a row for his lead comedy actor role in ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
