The re-released movie The Lion King in 3D has topped the North American Box Office, for the consecutive second week, proving tough for the contenders.

The recent hit animation movie ‘The Lion King 3D’, which has been re-released in 3D version, is continuing its domination at North American box office, after it has debuted in the top place, last week. Also, in its second week, it is sitting still in the top place, despite the release of big movies like ‘Moneyball’ of Brad Pitt and ‘Abduction’ of ‘Twilight’ hunk Taylor Lautner. It appears that, no big star has the capacity to dethrone ‘The Lion King’ from its top place.

’The Lion King 3D’ has grossed $22.1 million in its three-day screening of second week, by dropping just 27% of ticket sales compared to last week. It has grossed $61.7 million in domestic circuit. It was followed by Brad Pitt’s ‘Moneyball’ in the second place with $20.6 million in its debut week. It was reported that, 64% of the audience were over the age of 35 and 49% were of the females. Another new entry ‘Dolphin Tale’ is in third place with an estimated gross of $20.3 million in its three-day screening of its debut week.

The Taylor Lautner starrer ‘Abduction’ has debuted in the fourth place, grossing $11.2 million. Most of the audience was a female, who was drawn to watch the action-thriller. However, it has been rated ‘B-‘ by CinemaScore. The R-rated thriller movie ‘Killer Elite’, another new entry with ‘Transporter’ star Jason Statham, has been slated on fifth place. It has earned the estimated gross of $9.5 million and has been rated ‘B’ by the CinemaScore.
