Justin Timberlake has been confirmed to star as 1970s record producer, in the forthcoming biopic of Neil Bogart with the title ‘Spinning Gold’.
The ‘Friends With Benefits’ star Justin Timberlake, has been set to play the role of 1970s multimillionaire record mogul Neil Bogart, who is the co-founder of Casablanca Records. Besides staring in the movie, he will also serve as the producer, along with Timothy Scott Bogart, the son of Neil Bogart, Gary Randall, while Timothy will take up the additional duty of a screenwriter for the project.
The story of the movie will reportedly revolve round the life of young Neil, who was a poor Jewish child from Brooklyn, before he became a multimillionaire, after establishing his record label. He is also the one, who has launched the careers of the 70s, super stars such as, Dona Summer, Kiss, The Village People and Parliament. Unfortunately, Neil demised, after fighting against cancer in 1982, at his age of 39.
Timothy Bogart about the Neil’s biopic said that, the movie is a saga of a young dreamer, who started his journey with nothing, but came of time in 60s and 70s, as he believed that, anything is possible and every risk is worth taking. He also added that, the project took thirty years in its making, describing the biggest challenge in developing the projects was finding the suitable actor to play the role of his father.
The screenwriter of the movie went on saying that, they were looking out for a young actor, who could carry out the picture and once he saw Justin, walking into the room, he felt that, that was the moment; he has been waiting for 29 long years. He finds the exact energy in Justin, just like his father with the same glimmer in his eyes. However, the director for the movie has not been finalized and the production of the ‘Spinning Gold’ is expected to start before the end of 2012.
