‘Puss in Boots’ Tops Halloween North American Weekend Box Office

’Puss in Boots’ an animated movie has topped the Halloween North American weekend box office in its debut week over Halloween weekend.

The recent released DreamWorks SKG’s animated movie ‘Puss in Boots’ has given the tough time to its contenders and have topped the Halloween North American weekend box office with $34 million in its three-day screening. Also, it has created a record as the highest grossing movie in Halloween weekend. It broke the record of previous holder ‘Saw III’ which grossed $33.6 million. The movie has been scored with ‘A-‘CinemaScore with 59% of female audience and 55% of them being above the age of 25.

The ‘Puss in Boots’ is followed by the last week topper horror movie ‘Paranormal Activity 3’ in the second place with $18.5 million. It dropped by 65% compared to its last weekend and has totaled its cumulative gross of $81.3 million domestically, which has been produced with a budget of $5 million. A futuristic action flick ‘In Time’ with Justin Timberlake in the lead role has debuted at third place grossing $12 million. A dance based reboot movie ‘Footloose’ with Julian Hough in the lead role, is in fourth place with $5.4 million dropping 48% of its last weekend.

Johnny Depp starrer ‘The Rum Diary’ is in fifth place with just $5 million in its debut week, which has failed to match the expectations of Depp’s movie. The novel adaptation by Hunter S. Thompson, has marked the lowest grossing movie of Depp, after his 2007 starrer movie ‘Sweeney Todd’ grossed $9 million in its debut week.
