Terrence Malick set to direct ‘Lawless’ and ‘Knight of Cups’

Terrence Malick, the director of ‘The Tree of Life’ has been set to helm for the star-studded high-profile films namely ‘Lawless’ and ‘Knight of Cups’. Malick has tapped several notable actors that include Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett for the upcoming movie projects.

However, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett are set to play the supporting roles in ‘Lawless’ where Ryan Gosling will be playing as the lead character. In addition, the movie also joins ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ actress, Rooney Mara as well as Haley Bennett for the movie. Bale is set to take on the lead role, where as Blanchett will be playing supporting role alongside Isabel Lucas.

‘Lawless’ director, Malick has planned to shoot both films back-to-back in 2012. Currently, he is still in pre-production phase for both projects, but the details are still unwrapped. In both films, Bale and Malick will be reunited since they have worked together in 2005 drama ‘The New World’. Also, they have Sarah Green and Nicolas Gonda of ‘The Tree of Life’ to serve as producers. Both projects will be introduced by FilmNation to foreign buyers during the American Film Market in Santa Monica on 2nd November, Wednesday.

The Film Nation’s founder and CEO, Glen Basner told about Malick projects that the FilmNation could not be happier to continue to act as Terrence’s international sales agency. He added that Terrence is a brilliant filmmaker and an enormous draw for talent and filmmakers alike. He concluded that they look forward to robust sales at AFM on both of the films.
