’Puss in Boots’ has topped the US weekend box office for second week consecutively and continues to remain on top of the North American box office.
The successfully running DreamWorks SKG’s animated movie that has topped the US Halloween weekend box office, is continuing to remain on top, after it has topped the US weekend box office for the second consecutive week. The movie that has grossed $34 million in its debut week went on grossing $33 million, in its second week by dropping just 3% of ticket sales from last week. ‘Puss in Boots’ has also recorded as the smallest drop ever, in the list of non-holiday movies, after it recording as the highest grossing movie in Halloween weekend.
’Puss in Boots’ was followed by a Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy starrer new entry movie ‘Tower Heist, in the second place. The comedy movie has grossed $25.1 million in its three-day screening. However, it did not reach the expectations, as the Universal Pictures expected the movie to be grossing $30 million in its debut week. Nikki Rico, the president of Universal domestic distribution said that, the disappointment was due to the overall low marketplace.
’A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas’ yet another new entry this week, managed to occupy the third place with $13 million. The movie from Warner Bros did below the expectations, despite scoring ‘B’ CinemaScore. The movie was expected to gross $18 million in its opening week, but it went otherwise. ‘Paranormal Activity 3’ slipped to fourth place in its third weekend, after dropping 53% from its last week with a gross of $8.5 million and has accumulated its domestic gross to $95.3 million, while ‘In Time’ with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried in the lead roles which was in third place last week, dropped to fifth place with $7.7 million.
