Leonardo DiCaprio expected to star in ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ remake

The ‘Titanic’ hero, Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to take up the lead role of the big screen adaption of the iconic 1970’s TV show ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’. Reportedly, the movie is being in works and the Weinstein Co. is closing a deal with the Universal Pictures to develop the project with ‘Valkyrie’ helmer, Bryan Singer. He is eyeing on DiCaprio to make him sit in the lead role.

However, in this movie, DiCaprio is expected to play the role of bionic man Steve Austin. It is a character that was made famous by Lee Majors in the original television series. It is said that he would not seal any deal before he read the screenplay which was penned by Christopher McQuarrie. The star is currently filming the high-profile film project ‘The Great Gatsby’. In this movie, the cast includes Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan and Joel Edgerton.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s upcoming project includes of ‘Django Unchained’ that comes out on 25th December, 2012 and on the same day, ‘The Great Gatsby’ will also be released. As for Bryan Singer, the upcoming directed film of his is ‘Jack the Giant Killer’ which is set to release on June 15, 2012. In this movie, the cast includes Stanley Tucci, Ewan McGregor and Nicholas Hoult.

Currently, Singer is busy preparing the big screen version of another 1970’s TV series ‘Battlestar Galactica’. However, the original ‘Six Million Dollar Man’ follows a pilot named Austin who was dying after his ship crashed and brought back to life by the government. He was augmented with cybernetics parts that gave him superhuman strength and speed. In order to pay his dues, he becomes a secret operative who fights against injustice.
