Benicio Del Toro to Star in ‘Star Trek 2′

Benicio Del Toro has been allegedly confirmed to join and star the forthcoming sci-fi much awaited movie ‘Star Trek 2’ directed by JJ Abrams.

The ‘Sin City’ star has been reportedly confirmed to star in the upcoming sci-fi sequel flick ‘Star Trek 2’. His inclusion in the cast of the movie has been confirmed by the director of the movie JJ Abrams. Paramount Pictures have also announced a new release date for the movie. They made a move just after Sony Pictures has postponed the release date of ‘Singularity’ directed by Roland Emmerich to November 1, 2013.

Originally, the untitled sequel ‘Star Trek 2’ was scheduled for release on June 29, 2012 by Paramount Pictures, but was given to ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’, by pushing back the release date of ‘Star Trek 2’ to give ample time for the scribers Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof to refine the script. As per the reports, the movie would be filmed in 3D, though JJ Abrams in June claimed that, he did not consider about making a sci-fi flick in 3D.

On the inclusion of Benicio Del Toro as villain in ‘Star Trek 2’ Abrams said that, it would be too early to talk about his role, but described him as an amazing and versatile actor. He added that, Del Toro could do any kind of role and expecting him to play Uhura. He further said that, he would like to work with Benicio for years, but they are still in discussions. The movie has set Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Zoe Saldana to reprise their roles and will be joined by Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho and Karl Urban.
