"Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga" Jennifer Hudson says that her fiance David Otunga has saved her life, on the day of her family’s murder in the year 2008.

The Oscar winning actress Jennifer Hudson believes that, she was saved by her fiance David Otunga, as David wanted her with him in Florida, instead of going to Chicago. She said that, her visit to meet David has spared her life and that is the reason she is still alive. The 30-year-old star has revealed the details, during an interview in the December/January issue of Ebony. Her family was gunned down in the year 2008.

The ‘American Idol’ season 3 contestant further said that, she was supposed to be with her mother, brother and nephew, on the day they were murdered and her decision to visit her fiance was one of the things that have saved her life. The ‘Dreamgirls’ star added that, she has never revealed the details before and she could not believe she has said that. She visited Florida, after she was called by David Otunga, to come and see his wrestling match in Tampa.

Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga got engaged on September 12, 2008. Before getting engaged to David, ‘I Remember Me’ singer has dated James Payton from 1999, until they parted their ways in late 2007. David Otunga, who has a 2-year-old son with Jennifer Hudson, is a Harvard-trained attorney and a professional wrestler.

Otunga was working with World Wrestling Entertainment franchise, at the time of the murder Hudson’s family. Jennifer’s mother, brother and nephew were gunned down by William Balfour, who is a love interest of Julia, her sister. He has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one court of home invasion, after he got arrested in December 2008.
