Critics Choice Movie Awards 2012 – ‘The Artist’ and ‘Hugo’ lead nominations

On 13th December, the Broadcast Film Critics Association has announced the nominations list for the 17th Critics Choice Movie Awards. ‘The Artist’ and ‘Hugo’ were on the list which was leading with 11 nominations each. However, both the high-profile movies should face off against one another to win the Best Picture Award. Also, Martin Scorsese and Michael Hazanavicius will also be competing for the ‘Best Director’.

Following up ‘The Artist’ and ‘Hugo’, ‘The Help’ and the action film ‘Drive’ were leading with eight nominations and ‘The Descendants’ and Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ followed close behind by grabbing seven nominations.

Coming to the Best Actor category, the nominated stars are George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jean Dujardin, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt. However, the Best Actress category list, the likes are Viola Davis, Elizabeth Olsen, Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams.

This year’s blockbuster movie ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II’ has bagged 4 nominations that include Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effect, Best Makeup and for the Best Sound. Meanwhile, the thriller ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ has grabbed two nominations that include Best Score and Best Editing.

Moreover, the winners of the 2012 Critics Choice Movie Awards will be announced during a gala ceremony at Hollywood Palladium in 12 January, 2012.
