Time Magazine has named the 2011 Person of the Year on Wednesday. It is ‘The Protester’ which was named as the Time magazine’s Person of the Year. It defines that the Person of the Year as someone who is better or worse influenced the events of the year.

Rick Stengel, the Time Editor has question that whether is there a global tipping point for frustration. He said that everywhere it seems that people said they had had enough. He said that they dissented, they demanded, they did not despair and even when the answers came back in a cloud of tear gas or a hail of bullets. Literally, they embodied the idea that individual action can bring collective and colossal change.

However, the protesters in a lengthening list of countries that include Israel, India, Chile, China, Britain, Spain and now the United States all increasingly link their actions explicitly to the popular revolutions that have shaken up the Middle East. Moreover, the head of the United States Special Operations Command, Admiral William McRaven and the overall commander of the secret US mission into Pakistan in May that has killed al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden that has come in at the second place on the Time list.

Coming to the No.3, the Chinese dissident artist, Ai Weiwei, for the 81 day secret detention by authorities earlier this year sparked an international outcry. This was followed by the U.S. House of Representative Budget Committee Chairman, Paul Ryan. Rounding out the Time short list, it is the Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton who married to Prince William in April.

A year ago, the Facebook founder and the CEO of Mark Zuckerberg has got the honor. The U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke has received honor in 2008 and the winner of 2008 was the then-president-elect Barack Obama.
