2011 National Film Registry: ‘Forest Gump’, ‘Silence of the Lambs’ added

"2011 National Film Registry Forest Gump Silence of the Lambs added"2011 National Film Registry selections list has been unveiled. This list has included the 1994’s ‘Forest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks and the 1991’s ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ that boasted the performance of Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster. ‘Forest Gump’ and ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ are chosen to be preserved as cultural, artistic and historical treasures in the National Registry of the Library of Congress this year.

Besides this, the 1942 classic animated film ‘Bambi’ and Charlie Chaplin’s first feature lengthy comedy 1921’s ‘The Kid’ of Walt Disney have also made into the list. However, the 25 films selected were picked from the 2,228 titles nominated by the public, in the span period from 1912 to 1994 that includes an eclectic mixture of feature films, documentaries, short, subjects and experimental films.

The Librarian of Congress, James H. Billington has told that these films are selected as of their enduring significance to the American culture. He also said that their film heritage must be protected because those cinematic treasures document their history and culture and reflect their hopes and dreams.

2011 National Film Registry list: The latest batch brings the total number of pics in the registry to 575.
