The Writers Guild Award 2012 nominations have been announced for three parts of screenplays on Thursday, which will be held in February 2012.
The Writers Guild Award 2012 nominations for three different kinds of screenplays have been announced on Thursday, January 5, 2012. The three kinds of screenplays are ‘Best Original’, ‘Best Adapted’ and ‘Best Documentary Screenplay’. The movie ‘Young Adult’ has bagged a slot in the category of ‘Original Screenplay’ that was written by Diablo Cody, an Oscar winning scribe. Besides, ‘Bridesmaids’, ‘50/50’, ‘Mid Night in Paris’ and ‘Win Win’ also managed to get the slots in the category.
As for ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ category, ‘The Descendants’, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ ‘Hugo’, ‘The Help’ and ‘Moneyball’ got the place in the category who will be competing to win the award. Scribes such as Steven Zaillian, Alexander Payne, John Logan, Tate Taylor and others got the spot to win the award. Meanwhile, ‘Better This World’, ‘Pina’, ‘Senna’, ‘Position Among the Stars’ bagged the place for the award in ‘Best Documentary Screenplay’ category.
However, ‘The Artist’ which was critically acclaimed and seems like Oscar contender failed to get the slot. It was joined by the movies like ‘Drive’, ‘The Iron Lady’, ‘War horse’ and ‘My Week with Marilyn’ also failed to get the place. The winners of Writers Guild Award 2012 will be announced during a ceremony, which will be held in New York City and Los Angeles on February 19, 2012.
