"The Devil Inside Tops US Weekend Box Office"’The Devil Inside’ a horror movie has topped the US weekend box office and became the third-biggest opening of all time for early January.

The recently released small-budget horror movie ‘The Devil Inside’ has topped the US weekend box office in its opening week, as it has collected a stunning $34.5 million in its three-day screening. The supernatural movie that was produced by Paramount Pictures for just $1 million, has emerged as the third-biggest opening of all time for early January, after ‘Cloverfield’ in 2008 and ‘Star Wars’ re-release in the year 1997.

The horror movie directed by William Bent drew the young audience with 60% of them being under the age 25 and 85% under 34, with 54% being the male audience. ‘The Devil Inside’ is trailed by Tom Cruise starrer ‘Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol’, as it slipped to second place from its first position of last week, grossing $20.5 million. It dropped the ticket sales by 30% from the last week and has totaled its domestic cumulative to $170.2 million, from four-week screening in the US theaters.

Meanwhile, ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’ managed to secure its third place, collecting $14 million with 34% drop of ticket sales from last week. The movie has collected a total domestic cumulative of $157.4 from four weeks. ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ that was acclaimed critically is in fourth place with $11.3 million, with just 24% of ticket sales, the smallest drop on the top ten. To round off the top-5 is ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chip-Wrecked’ that has collected $9.5 million with a total domestic collection of $76.8 million.
