At a 12th Vancouver Film Critics Circle Awards ceremony in Vancouver Monday night (Jan.09), Terrence Malick was named best director for ‘The Tree of Life,’ Werner Herzog’s Cave of Forgotten Dreams won best documentary and Asghar Farhadi’s A Separation – Iran’s Oscar submission for the foreign-language movie group – won best foreign language movie.
Other winners included rising star Jessica Chastain, who was named Best Supporting Actress in honor of her character in Take Shelter, The Tree of Life and The Help, and Christopher Plummer, who won ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for Beginners. Filmmaker Marv Newland also won the Achievement Award for Contribution to the BC Film and Television Industry.
