Idris Elba has been confirmed to return to reprise his role as Heimdall in the forthcoming ‘Thor’ sequel titled ‘Thor 2’.
’The Office’ actor Idris Elba has been set to reprise his role in the upcoming ‘Thor’ sequel. He would reprise his role as Heimdall, the Asgardian sentry. He revealed the details during an interview with MTV News about his future projects on Sunday, January 15, 2012. The 39-year-old talented actor said that, ‘Thor 2’ would be sure one of his projects, but he was unsure if he would appear in ‘The Avengers’.
The English actor played the role of Heimdall, the brother of the warrior Sif in the first ‘Thor’ movie. He serves as the guardian sentry of Asgard standing on the rainbow bridge Bifrost, to watch any attacks to Asgard. With his return, Elba will join the other returning cast of the movie including Chris Hemsworth who plays the titular character, Natalie Portman playing as Jane Foster, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Jaimie Alexander as Sif and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
The upcoming ‘Thor 2’ movie will be directed by Alan Taylor, while Robert Rodat rewrites the original script of Don Payne. The ‘Thor 2’ has been scheduled for US release on November 15, 2013. Apart from the ‘Thor’ sequel, Idris Elba will be seen in ‘Pacific Rim’ by Guillermo Del Toro that is filming currently in Toronto. He also shared about the project saying, he was there for five months and loved it very much. He also added that, Guillermo is a genius and the movie is a huge one a mad monster, robots movie.
