Adam Sandler has been tapped by Hasbro to star in the upcoming toy story movie ‘Candy Land’ in association with Columbia Pictures.
Hasbro has announced on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 that, the ‘Big Daddy’ actor Adam Sandler has been tapped to star in the lead role in the forthcoming movie project ‘Candy Land’. He not only stars in the movie, but also serves as the co-writer of the script along with Robert Smigel. Adam and Robert would now replace the screenwriters’ duo Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Kevin Lima of ‘Enchanted’ would serve as the director of the movie.
Doug Belgrad the President of Columbia Pictures said that, ‘Candy land’ is more than a game, a brand which is loved by children and parents. It offers an extraordinary canvas to make a fantastic, live-action family adventure movie with a larger than life part for Adam. He also added that, they are thrilled to be the partner of Hasbro and Happy Madison for the upcoming project. The movie ‘Candy Land’ is a live-action epic that focuses on the adventure of a group, who are set to find out the lost king of Candy Land. The group travel through the areas like Candy Cane Forest and Gum Drop Mountain.
The movie ‘Candy Land’ was first developed at Universal Pictures, which later quit the Hasbro movie. However, it is not the first time that Universal has dropped the partnership with Hasbro, as they earlier withdrew the plans of making Hasbro films like ‘Clue’, ‘Stretch Armstrong’ and ‘Ouija’. The latest partnership of Universal and Hasbro is ‘Battleship’ that has been scheduled for US release on May 18, 2012.
