Katy Perry and Russell Brand have reached a divorce finalized by a Los Angeles judge on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 less than six weeks after the “Arthur” actor filed documents to end their 14 months of nuptial.
The former couple, who married in October 2010 in a detailed Indian ceremony, split in December when Brand filed for divorce. On Wednesday, Court records showed that Superior Court Judge Marc Marmaro signed the judgment with court records sighting that all three parties have signed off on the judgment.
The Divorce finalization came just a day after the “Teenage Dream” singer filed her reply to her estranged husband’s divorce filing, admitting that they have reached a settlement of all issues. Though so, the twosome will not become official single again until July 14, as California law requires married individuals to wait six months after filing for divorce.
During the judgment, Judge Marc also called for Perry’s maiden name, Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, to be returned. The exact terms of the former couple’s divorce settlement remained unrevealed. Both Perry and Brand also did not give hint in their court filings when they separated.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand tied the knot at a resort inside a tiger reserve in India. After weeks of break-up rumors, Brand filed for divorce in Dec. 2011, charging irreconcilable differences for the split. The separated couple allegedly did not sign a pre-nuptial agreement, but it was told that Brand won’t be asking for money from his singer wife.
Katy Perry lately avoided reporters at the 2012 Super Bowl as she was not ready to talk about her marriage to Brand.
