‘The Vow’ Tops US Weekend Box Office

"The Vow Tops US Weekend Box Office"’The Vow’ with Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles, topped the US weekend box office and emerged as the biggest non-holiday February weekend.

Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams starrer romantic movie ‘The Vow’ has topped the US weekend box office. It also created a record by becoming the biggest ever non-holiday February weekend grosser. The romantic drama film grossed $41.7 million in its three-day screening. The $30 million budget movie received a ‘B’ CinemaScore and appealed 72% female audience with 55% of them being under the age of 25.

’The Vow’ is trailed by action film ‘Safe House’ in the second place. The new entry has earned the estimated amount of $39.3 million. The Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds performed more than expected and got an ‘A-‘ CinemaScore and attracted the female audience with 50%. Meanwhile, ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ another new entry occupied the third place with $27.5 million. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens starrer sequel has surpassed its predecessor that has collected $21 in the first week of 2008.

The 3D version of ‘Star Wars: Episode 1- The Phantom Menace’ managed fourth place with 423 million in its debut week. It appealed 60% male audience with 49% under the age of 25. The ‘Chronicle’ which topped in its debut week, slipped to fifth place grossing $12.3 million with 44% of dropping in ticket sales. It has so far collected the domestic gross of $40.1 million in its two-week screening.
