’The Vow’ the romantic film has created a new Valentine’s Day box office record, by grossing a huge $11.6 million, on a non-weekend Valentine’s Day.
‘The Vow’ starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams has yet achieved another milestone on this Valentine’s Day. The successful running romantic comedy movie has emerged as the biggest grosser for a non-weekend Valentine’s Day, by collecting a huge $11.6 million with 251% hike in ticket sales from Monday. With the present milestone, the Michael Sucsy directed romantic drama flick outclassed the previous record holder ‘Hitch’ that collected $7.5 million on Valentine’s Day, which was on Monday in the year 2005.
However, the all-time highest Valentine’s Day grosser is still on the name of ‘Valentine’s Day’ that was on Sunday grossing $23.4 million in 2010. Another flick ‘Friday the 13th’ grossed $14.3 million on Saturday’s Valentine’s Day in 2009. ‘The Vow’ has performed more than expected by grossing $41.2 million on its debut weekend, which has also emerged as the biggest non-holiday February weekend ever. Till Tuesday, the $30 million budget movie has domestically earned $56.2 million.
On the other hand, ‘The Vow’ is trailed by Universal Pictures’ ‘Safe House’ in the second place grossing $6.1 million on Valentine’s Day with an increase of 109% from Monday. The Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds starrer action movie also debuted last week against ‘The Vow’ and has so far collected a total of $49.2 million domestically, from its five-day screening in the United States theaters.
