London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony That was amazing! The Spice Girls back together to perform at the 2012 Summer Olympics, Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, in London, which also included performances from Queen, Jessie J and George Michael.
The 90s girl band took the leg with an unforgettable performance to provide the fans with their hit singles “Spice Up Your Life” and “Wannabe”. Victoria Adams, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Melanie Brown and Geri Halliwell were singing atop singers (London taxi cabs) headed for the end of the 2012 Olympics.
It was the first time the five-piece had gigging together in over four seasons and was one of the most eagerly-anticipated parts of the ‘Symphony of British Music’ section in the ceremony.
The iconic girl group opened with Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ rocking the stadium before a especially made video of late Beatles legend John Lennon singing his typical ‘Imagine’ was played while a children’s chorus sang along inside the scene.
Others to present in the section included Jessie J, Fatboy Slim, Russell Brand, Muse, Muse, Tinie Tempah, Taio Cruz, Annie Lennox while Beady Eye’s Liam Gallagher performed typical Oasis tune ‘Wonderwall’.
