Jennifer Lopez is finally unveiled on all those American Idol 2013 rumors – will not be returning to Idol told on the red carpet at Thursday night’s 2013 amfAR gala in New York City.
Jennifer Lopez will not be returning to American Idol, a source has claimed. Speculations that the former judge could be making a comeback have been circulating ever since a report admitted that executives considered replacing Mariah Carey with Lopez halfway through the last season.
Carey, Nicki Minaj and Randy Jackson have all confirmed that they will no longer be on the panel, sparking further rumors that Lopez might return. However, a source told E! News: “It’s not happening.” “It’s not looking that great because my year is getting booked up,” Lopez told the sources.
J.Lo herself has formerly cast doubt on rumor that she could return, saying in a recent interview: “I feel like it’s in the past for me.” Other reports have suggested that the new judging panel could be filled with former contestants, with Jennifer Hudson rumored to have already signed up for a job.
However, a source told that the plans have “grinded to a halt” since Swedish Idol boss Per Blankens was brought in to replace dropped executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick. Lythgoe earlier suggested that the show should reunite original judges Jackson, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lopez is set to be honored with her very own star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame” in a ceremony next Thursday. The occasion will mark the 2,500th star given out.
